A newspaper insert that I absently rolled up during a phone conversation and carried around in my pocket for half the day. I took it out, set it on a desk blotter near a window, and took a few shots.

Friday Feb. 2 is my last day of work as editor of the newspaper until Aug. 13. I'm taking a six month paternal leave to focus on the kids and writing. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the photography. I certainly won't be abandoning it, or the photoblog project, but it will be interesting to see if the subject, tone, style of glasspoeme undergoes a transformation.

Pagoda 2

Canon EOS 20D
Things seen through the arterial silhouettes of branches--becoming a common element in my work. See "Leaded" earlier this month, and "Grey Goose" from Feb. 2006--my favourite Super Bowl XL pic.
This is a much grainier version than it's predecesor. I was shooting at ISO 1600 for this shot, so there's lots of noise. It's very textured and seems to mimic the snow that was falling at the time and can't really be seen in either of the photos of this temple near my house.

No idea who the girl is. She ran into the shot and ended up being much cooler than the gas slick going down the sewer grate.

Fully Leaded

Canon EOS 20D

Twice around Willistead Park left me standing beside the van on the northeast corner of Niagara Street and Devonshire Road, facing the stained glass of St. Mary's Anglican--the church my parents where married in some 38 years ago when no other church would have them. My walk had begun at dusk and ended half an hour later in darkness, and the stained glass could not be ignored. It's pretty heavy and Gothic and looks like it would make a great Joy Division, Mazzy Star or death metal album cover. My favourite of 2007 thus far!
