Resurfacing

Canon EOS 20D

It was 51 degrees Celsius today with the humidex. For the metrically impaired, that's 123 degrees Fahrenheit. This shot is in tight on a bead of oily water that dripped off of some road repaving machinery onto fresh asphalt. The bead of liquid shattered like glass and boiled up, becoming increasly viscous and shiny as the water burned off. Temperature of fresh asphalt: 350 F. My shins were running with sweat after about three minutes standing on the curb watching the road hiss.
